Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of ready-made puff pastry
  • 2 large onions
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 cup of grated cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of freshly chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Peel and finely chop the onions.
  3. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and cook until they are softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, roll out the puff pastry and cut into a 10-inch round. Place the round on a greased baking sheet.
  5. In a bowl, mix together the cooked onions, grated cheese, parsley, and black pepper.
  6. Spread the mixture over the puff pastry round, leaving a 1-inch border around the edge.
  7. Beat together the eggs and a pinch of salt. Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg mixture.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
