Ingredients
- 1 package devil's food cake mix
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 can cherry pie filling
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, eggs, oil, and cherry pie filling. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
- In a large bowl, beat together the heavy cream, cocoa powder, sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the cooled cake.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top of the cake.
