Ingredients
- 1/2 pound elbow macaroni
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 3 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 6 slices turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook macaroni according to package instructions and drain.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper and stir until combined. Add the milk and whisk until smooth. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring to a low boil, stirring constantly.
- Reduce the heat to low and add the cheese, salt, and black pepper. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is thick and creamy. Remove from the heat.
- Add the cooked macaroni and bacon to the sauce and stir until combined. Pour into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and melted butter. Sprinkle over the macaroni and cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
