Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cans (14.5 ounces each) diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh oregano, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and onion and cook until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the tomatoes, Italian seasoning, basil, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Puree the sauce with an immersion blender or in a blender or food processor until it reaches the desired consistency.
  4. Serve over your favorite pasta.
