Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cans (14.5 ounces each) diced tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon fresh basil, chopped
- 1 teaspoon fresh oregano, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
- Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and onion and cook until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the tomatoes, Italian seasoning, basil, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Puree the sauce with an immersion blender or in a blender or food processor until it reaches the desired consistency.
- Serve over your favorite pasta.
