Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and active dry yeast.
  2. Add the warm water and olive oil and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 450°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. When the dough has doubled in size, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a round loaf.
  7. Place the loaf on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the bottom of the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
  8. Remove the loaf from the oven and cool on a wire rack before slicing.
