Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth

Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the garlic, cumin, chili powder, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper and cook, stirring, for 1 minute.
  3. Add the crushed tomatoes and chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Taste and adjust the seasonings, if desired.
  6. Serve the sauce over your favorite enchiladas.
