Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, beat eggs with sugar until light and fluffy. Add melted butter, flour, baking powder and salt. Beat until combined.
  3. Stir in milk and vanilla extract. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  5. In a small saucepan, combine lemon juice and sugar. Cook over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Pour over hot cake.
  6. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
