Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs

- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons sugar

Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the buttermilk.
- Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
- In a medium bowl, whip the cream until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in the sugar and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
