Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Slowly stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just blended. Fold in the whipping cream.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
