These homemade bubbling bread sticky buns are a perfect treat for breakfast or dessert. With a soft and fluffy dough, gooey caramel topping, and a cinnamon sugar filling, these sticky buns are utterly irresistible. Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, and salt.
  2. In a separate small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, milk, and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. While the dough is rising, prepare the caramel topping. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  7. Add brown sugar, heavy cream, and corn syrup. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and blended.
  8. Pour the caramel mixture into a 9-inch round baking pan and sprinkle with chopped pecans if desired.
  9. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle approximately 12x9 inches.
  10. Brush the rolled out dough with melted butter and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  11. Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log and cut it into 12 equal pieces.
  12. Place the cut rolls, cut side down, on top of the caramel topping in the prepared baking pan.
  13. Cover the pan with a kitchen towel and let the rolls rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  14. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  15. Bake the sticky buns for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and bubbling.
  16. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes.
  17. Invert the pan onto a serving platter, allowing the caramel topping to drizzle over the buns.
