Ingredients

  • 5 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Mix well and set aside for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined, making sure not to overmix.
  5. Pour the peach mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the batter evenly over the peaches, leaving small gaps for the peaches to peek through.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the peaches are bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
