Ingredients
2 cups of fresh berries of your choice (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, etc.)
1 cup of white sugar
1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
Directions
In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the berries, sugar, and lemon juice. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
Once boiling, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Once the jam has thickened and reduced, remove from heat and let cool.
Once cooled, spoon the jam into a jar and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Interesting Facts
Jam was originally used as a way to preserve fruit for a longer period of time.
Making jam is a great way to use up overripe or frozen fruit.
Adding a teaspoon of butter can help reduce the amount of foam that forms when boiling the jam.
