Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, oats, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender or two knives until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
Add the berries and mix gently to combine. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, cream and vanilla. Pour over the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently a few times. Pat the dough into a 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick round and cut into 8 wedges.
Arrange the wedges on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
