Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into small pieces
  • 3/4 cup milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a baking sheet or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Using a pastry blender or two knives, cut butter into the flour mixture until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  4. Gradually add the milk, stirring until just blended.
  5. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for a few seconds.
  6. Roll out dough to 1/2-inch (1.25 cm) thickness.
  7. Cut out biscuits with a biscuit cutter or a glass.
  8. Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
  10. Serve warm with butter and honey or jam.
