Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups whole-wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F/190 C. Grease a baking sheet and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until combined. Add the milk and mix until the dough is soft and pliable.
  5. Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Cut out desired shapes with cookie cutters.
  6. Place the cut-out cookies on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden. Allow to cool before serving.
