Ingredients

  • 1 cup of butter (at room temperature)
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of white sugar (for topping)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the baking powder and vanilla extract.
  4. Stir in the flour and milk until well blended.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness.
  6. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters and place them onto a lightly greased baking sheet.
  7. Sprinkle the tops with a bit of sugar.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are lightly toasted.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
