In a large bowl, cream together the butter and cream cheese until smooth. Beat in the sugar, egg, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Stir in the walnuts.
Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until golden brown. Cool for 1 minute on the cookie sheets before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
