Directions
- Combine the strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a medium bowl and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Allow the mixture to sit for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Spread the strawberry filling over the bottom layer of the cake, spread evenly.
- Top with the second layer of the cake, pressing lightly to secure.
- Spread the remaining strawberry filling over the top of the cake and chill for at least an hour before serving.
