Indulge in the rich and comforting flavors of molasses with these soft molasses cookies. Perfectly spiced with ginger, cinnamon, and cloves, these cookies are a delightful treat for the entire family. The chewy texture and sweet molasses flavor make them a holiday favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar, for rolling

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the molasses and eggs until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls, then roll each ball in granulated sugar to coat. Place the cookies 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still slightly soft. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  6. Enjoy these delicious soft molasses cookies with a glass of milk or cup of hot tea!
