Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan with butter and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together the granulated sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until light and creamy.
  4. Add the flour mixture and buttermilk to the sugar mixture in batches, beating until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of butter until crumbly.
  7. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter in the loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool before slicing and serving.
