Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup Nutella
  • 2 tablespoons coarse sugar (for topping)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract. Add milk and mix until combined.
  4. Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Fill each muffin cup 1/2 full with batter. Drop a teaspoon of Nutella into the center of each muffin. Top with remaining batter.
  6. Sprinkle with coarse sugar and bake 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
