Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 egg
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Icing for decorating
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups confectioners' sugar
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Mix in vanilla and almond extracts, and egg.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture.
Stir in chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and walnuts.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in preheated oven, or until golden brown.
Cool for a few minutes on cookie sheets before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
To assemble petits fours, cut cooled cookies into squares.
Spread icing on top of each square.
In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, butter, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
Gradually add confectioners' sugar, and beat until fluffy.
Spread or pipe cream cheese mixture between two iced cookie squares.
