Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. round steak, cubed
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) beef broth
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cubed round steak, onion, garlic, flour, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the round steak mixture and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes or until the beef is browned.
  3. Transfer the round steak mixture to the slow cooker.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and mustard. Pour the mixture over the beef in the slow cooker.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the beef is tender.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water. Whisk into the slow cooker and stir gently to combine.
  7. Cover and cook on high for 15 minutes or until the sauce is thickened.
  8. Serve the round steak and gravy over mashed potatoes or rice.
