Ingredients
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 pound ground beef

Directions
Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
Add the ground beef, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes, if using. Cook until the beef is browned, about 5 minutes.
Transfer the beef mixture to a slow cooker. Add the tomatoes, broth, tomato paste, and bay leaf. Stir to combine.
Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, or on high for 4 to 5 hours.
Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper, if desired.
Serve over cooked pasta, potatoes, or rice.
