Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves, tightly packed
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup pine nuts
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil

Directions

  1. In a food processor, combine the basil, Parmesan cheese, pine nuts, garlic, salt, and pepper. Pulse until the ingredients are finely chopped.
  2. With the food processor running, slowly pour in the olive oil until the pesto is smooth and creamy.
  3. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  4. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
