Ingredients

  • 4 thick slices of stale bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup of powdered sugar

Directions

  1. In a shallow bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla extract.
  2. Dip the stale bread slices into the egg mixture until they are completely coated.
  3. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  4. Place the coated bread slices into the skillet and cook until golden brown on each side, about 3 minutes per side.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
  6. Drizzle the vanilla sauce over the French toast and serve immediately.
