- 1/2 cup butter

Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch (23 cm) cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs, one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
