Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup rum
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and baking soda; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
- Stir in the rum. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
