Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Add the flour mixture to the butter and sugar in the large bowl and mix until just combined.
  6. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
