Ingredients

  • 3 pounds of apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of quick-cooking oats
  • 1/4 cup of butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease an 8-inch cast iron skillet with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well to combine.
  3. Add the butter and mix until the apples are evenly coated. Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared skillet.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, oats, melted butter, and cinnamon. Mix until crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  6. Let cool for 15 minutes before serving.
