Ingredients
- 1 cup long-grain basmati rice
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 green chili, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup frozen green peas
- 2 cups chicken broth or water
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Directions
- Set the Instant Pot to sauté mode and heat the oil. Add the onion and sauté until it turns translucent.
- Add the cumin seeds, cardamom powder, garam masala powder, garlic, ginger, and green chili. Sauté for a few minutes until the spices are fragrant.
- Add the rice, frozen green peas, chicken broth or water, and salt. Stir everything together.
- Close the lid of the Instant Pot and set it to “Rice” mode. Cook for 10 minutes.
- When the cooking time is up, let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes. After that, release the remaining pressure manually.
- Open the lid and fluff the pilau rice with a fork. Serve hot with a garnish of fresh cilantro.
