Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  4. Beat in flour mixture alternately with milk, mixing just until incorporated. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of the cake comes out clean.
  6. Let cakes cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to cool completely.
