These baked turkey meatballs are a healthier alternative to traditional meatballs, packed with flavor and easy to make. Made with lean ground turkey, breadcrumbs, and a blend of spices, these meatballs are baked in the oven until juicy and golden brown. Serve them on top of spaghetti or as an appetizer with marinara sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup marinara sauce

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, onion, garlic, egg, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and lightly browned.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through.
  6. Once cooked, remove the meatballs from the oven and transfer them to a serving dish. Pour the warm marinara sauce over the meatballs and gently toss to coat.
  7. Serve the baked turkey meatballs with spaghetti or as an appetizer with toothpicks and extra marinara sauce for dipping.

Interesting Facts

  • Ground turkey is a lean source of protein, making these meatballs a healthier choice compared to traditional beef meatballs.
  • Baking the meatballs instead of frying them reduces the amount of added fat, making them a healthier option.
  • Using garlic and onion adds depth of flavor to the meatballs, while the red pepper flakes give them a subtle heat.
