Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the vanilla, egg, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until well blended.
  4. Stir in the flour, followed by the chocolate chips.
  5. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  6. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until edges are lightly toasted.
  7. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
