Ingredients
- 2 large potatoes
- 1/2 cup grated cheese
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil for frying
Directions
- Peel and chop the potatoes into small cubes.
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and add the potatoes. Cook for 10 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
- Drain the potatoes and mash them with a potato masher or fork.
- Add the cheese, sour cream, butter, onion, garlic powder, pepper, paprika and salt to the mashed potatoes. Mix well.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Form the mashed potato mixture into small balls, about the size of a golf ball. Place the balls in the hot oil and fry for about 3 minutes, or until golden brown on all sides.
- Remove the gyrolls from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb the excess oil.
- Serve the gyrolls warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
