Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Directions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
- Stir in milk until the dough just starts to come together.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead briefly until smooth.
- Roll or pat the dough to about 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut into 2 inch rounds with a biscuit cutter and place on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with melted butter. Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
