Ingredients
- 6 large yams
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Wash and peel the yams, then cut them into 1/2-inch cubes.
- Melt butter in a 9x13-inch baking dish or casserole dish.
- Add the yams, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, orange juice, water, and salt to the baking dish. Mix everything together until the yams are evenly coated.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 45 minutes until the yams are tender and the syrup is thick and bubbly.
- Serve hot.
