Ingredients

  • 1 lb macaroni
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Cook the macaroni according to package directions.
  3. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Whisk in the flour, dry mustard, salt, and pepper.
  5. Gradually add the milk and whisk until the mixture is smooth.
  6. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and comes to a boil.
  7. Remove from heat and add the cheeses, stirring until melted.
  8. Drain the macaroni and add to the cheese sauce.
  9. Pour the macaroni and cheese into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  10. Bake for 25 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
