In a medium bowl, mash sweet potatoes with a fork or potato masher.
Stir in sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, eggs, butter, milk, and vanilla extract.
Pour mixture into the prepared pie crust.
Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), and bake an additional 20 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow to cool before serving.
