Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together the melted butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until light and creamy.
  4. Stir in the flour mixture until blended. Spread the batter into the prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Meanwhile, in a saucepan over medium heat, combine sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips. Cook and stir until chocolate is melted, about 5 minutes.
  7. Pour the caramel mixture over the baked brownies and sprinkle with nuts if desired. Return to oven for 15 minutes.
