Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 cups white sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat together the melted butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until light and creamy.
- Stir in the flour mixture until blended. Spread the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Meanwhile, in a saucepan over medium heat, combine sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips. Cook and stir until chocolate is melted, about 5 minutes.
- Pour the caramel mixture over the baked brownies and sprinkle with nuts if desired. Return to oven for 15 minutes.
- Cool before cutting into bars.
