Ingredients
- 2 lbs goat meat, cut into pieces
- 2 cups basmati rice, soaked
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1/4 cup ghee
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 3 tomatoes, chopped
- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
- 1/4 cup mint leaves, chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp biryani masala
- 4-5 green chilies, slit
- Salt to taste
- 3 cups water
Directions
- In a large bowl, marinate the goat meat with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, biryani masala, salt, and half of the chopped cilantro and mint leaves. Let it marinate for at least 2 hours.
- Heat ghee in a large pot and sauté the sliced onions until golden brown. Add the marinated goat meat and cook until it is browned on all sides.
- Add tomatoes and green chilies to the pot and cook until the tomatoes are soft.
- In a separate pot, boil water and add soaked basmati rice. Cook until the rice is 70% done. Drain the rice and layer it over the goat meat mixture in the pot.
- Sprinkle the remaining chopped cilantro and mint leaves over the rice. Cover the pot with a tight lid and cook on low heat for 30-40 minutes until the rice is fully cooked and the flavors have melded together.
