Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice

Directions

  1. Wash the basmati rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 15 minutes. Drain the rice and set aside.
  2. In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and sauté until they start to sizzle.
  3. Add the grated ginger and chopped green chili to the pan. Stir-fry for a minute until aromatic.
  4. Add the diced mango to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes until it softens slightly.
  5. Add the soaked basmati rice to the pan along with salt, turmeric powder, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the rice with the spices.
  6. Pour 2 cups of water into the pan and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let the rice cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is fully cooked and fluffy.
  7. Once the rice is cooked, remove the pan from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
