Ingredients
- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 package instant yeast
- ¼ cup sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup milk
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 4 tablespoons powdered sugar
- ½ cup raspberry jam
- 1 cup whipped cream
- Additional powdered sugar for dusting
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Heat the milk in a small saucepan until warm, then add it to the dry mixture.
- Add the softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the bowl.
- Mix everything together until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece of dough into a round bun.
- Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover the buns with the kitchen towel and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the buns for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove the buns from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
- Once the buns are cool, use a serrated knife to cut off the top of each bun.
- Set aside the tops and scoop out a small amount of the dough from the middle of each bun.
- Fill the hollowed-out part of each bun with a spoonful of raspberry jam.
- Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- Fold in the powdered sugar.
- Spoon a dollop of whipped cream on top of the raspberry jam in each bun.
- Place the top of each bun back on, pressing lightly to secure it.
- Dust the buns with powdered sugar before serving.
