- 1 cup Herman sourdough starter
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 cups flour
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup raisins or chopped nuts (optional)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2-3 tbsp milk
Directions
- In a large bowl, mix together the sourdough starter, warm milk, sugar, melted butter, and salt.
- Gradually add in the flour until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Brush with melted butter.
- Mix the sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle it over the dough. Add raisins or nuts if desired.
- Roll up the dough tightly and slice into 12 even pieces. Place in a greased baking dish.
