Indulge in the delicate and creamy filling enclosed in a flaky pastry shell with these easy homemade egg tarts. With just a few simple ingredients, you can recreate this popular dim sum treat in the comfort of your kitchen. These tarts are perfect for dessert, tea time, or even breakfast!

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Some melted butter for greasing the tart molds

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease the tart molds with melted butter.
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface until it is about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Using a round cookie cutter or a glass, cut out circles slightly larger than the diameter of your tart molds.
  4. Press the pastry circles gently into the tart molds, making sure they fit snugly and cover the entire surface.
  5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until well combined.
  6. Add the evaporated milk, vanilla extract, and salt to the egg mixture, and whisk until smooth.
  7. Carefully pour the egg mixture into the prepared tart shells, filling them about 3/4 of the way.
  8. Place the filled tart molds on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the filling is set and the pastry turns golden brown.
  9. Remove the egg tarts from the oven and let them cool in the molds for a few minutes. Then, carefully remove the tarts from the molds and transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, serve the egg tarts at room temperature or chilled. Enjoy!
