Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound lean ground beef

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the diced onion and minced garlic and continue cooking until the onion is translucent.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, kale, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer the sauce for about 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese and grated Parmesan cheese.
  6. In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Arrange 3 lasagna noodles in a single layer on top of the sauce.
  7. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by half of the remaining meat sauce. Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  8. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients, ending with a layer of meat sauce and mozzarella cheese.
  9. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
