Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg. Mix until well combined.
  3. Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form an even layer.
  4. In another mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the remaining 2 eggs, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  5. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the chocolate cake layer in the baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the cream cheese mixture.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is still slightly gooey.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely in the baking dish.
  9. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar and cut into squares.
