Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, at room temperature
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, cream the butter until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the egg yolks one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Add the sugar and vanilla extract and beat until light and fluffy.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  5. Remove from the heat and let cool completely.
  6. Once cooled, use to frost cakes or cupcakes.
