Ingredients

  • 1 pound of large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup of seltzer water
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Add the seltzer water and mix until a thick batter is formed.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  4. Dip the shrimp into the batter and carefully place them into the hot oil. Fry for 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown.
  5. Remove the shrimp from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  6. Serve the shrimp immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
