Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 cup of dried morel mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon of minced garlic
  • 1 cup of vegetable broth
  • 1 cup of stone-ground grits
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup of shredded cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the morel mushrooms and garlic to the skillet and cook for 5 minutes. stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the vegetable broth and grits to the skillet and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the heavy cream and cheese and stir until the cheese is melted.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve warm.
